NPC Masters Figure Competitor "Mz Edub" Ericka Warren shares her journey from fluffy to fit and the keys to her complete transformation.
After being a high school and college athlete as well as coaching high school cheerleading and dance for 15+ years, in 2005 Ericka was given the opportunity to go on the road singing with gospel music legend Fred Hammond. After several years of consistent traveling, poor sleep, no exercise, late night eating along with consistent stress she found herself at her heaviest weight. Compounded with the birth of her daughter at the close of 2010 she realized she needed to do something but was too exhausted to begin.
After several weight loss fads and a lot of yo-yo dieting, in the summer of 2013 a friend who was training for a marathon challenged her to begin running. Being a competitor at heart she promised herself she would be able to run a 5k with him when he returned the following summer. In Jan 2014, she made the decision to take control of her health. She began training herself to run with a popular app on her phone as well as training at a cross fit gym to tone up. By March she had run her first 5k and had discovered a love for the gym. In Jan 2015 she joined the VShape Fitness team and began training for her first bodybuilding competition. June 2015 she placed 6th in her first figure competition and in November placed 3rd in the masters figure over 40 category. She is now training for the 2016 competition season and hopes to eventually earn her IFBB pro card.
Her journey has inspired many to join her in getting fit. In her RESET challenge groups she shares simple tips on clean eating, delicious recipes for food prepping, cardio, body weight resistance and strength training along with providing an encouraging and inspiring environment for accountability to help you reach your health and fitness goals.
Through her fitness journey Ericka has adapted a concept of univer-soul fitness. A concept to her that simply means living a life so everything affecting you is fit and in premier health. At a time in her life where things seemed the most out of control and she felt unhealthy, she turned to the gym for asylum. In her quest to achieve physical fitness she discovered a love for competitive bodybuilding. She also found the discipline necessary to be successful in the sport was applicable in every area of her life and if applied consistently would lead to the peace she was seeking through spiritual, mental, emotional and financial fitness. Diligently applying the principles learned, she is daily seeking the univer-soul fitness balance and is sharing the struggles and triumphs of her journey with us.
